Excuses, excuses

Okay, so clearly the whole 30 in 30 thing didn't exactly pan out. Instead, I did 9 in 30. I'm no math major, but I'm pretty sure that isn't even a passing grade.

So, where did I go wrong? Glad you asked, as I have a nifty list of excuses for you:

1. I caught the mother of all colds. I've been sick for a solid week now- which includes my much longed for holiday vacation. I am so grumpy about being sick on a vacation week. I never get sick for this long. My head hurts, my throat hurts, my nose is red and raw from all the sneezing. I had grand plans for this week: long walks with Michael, maybe some hiking, a bike ride or two and of course some gym trips. Instead, I had slow shuffles from the bed to the couch and the only ab work I got was from having the dry heaves.

2. The second job. Things got crazy at ye olde lotion shop. I went from working 10 or so hours a week to being closer to 25 for the last few weeks. I was working from 8am-5pm at the normal job and then 6-11pm at the second one. Could I have gotten up and done a morning work out or two? Sure. Was there a chance in hell that I would actually do that? No, not even a little one.

3. My gym partner ditched me. Yeah. It was all her fault. Yeah, that's it. I'll blame Kelly. How dare she leave for a family vacation?

4. My dog ate my gym pass. And it was snowing so the road to the gym was closed. And my goldfish died and I had to plan the funeral and it was out of state. In Florida. Yep, goldfish funeral in Florida. Those things don't plan themselves you know.

I may have made the last one up.

I am a bit disappointed in myself because while there were some circumstances beyond my control (like the monster cold), the wheels had pretty much fallen off the wagon before the month was half over. I may to issue the challenge again, but maybe give myself a little more wiggle room. Like 25 in 30 or 30 in 35. We'll see. I have to shake this cold first.
